Comprehension Passage Test 09

Read the following passages carefully and answer the questions given below them:

Jawaharlal Nehru and an Englishman were wandering across the mountainous country. Hot and weary they reached a little hotel and demanded bath. Such a thing had not been heard there and there was no provision for it in the building.

They were told however that they could wash themselves in the neighbouring steam. So, armed with napkins or perhaps with small face towels, which the hotel generously gave them, they went to the roaring torrent, which was coming from the glacier nearby. Jawaharlal slipped and fell and the ice-cold water benumbed him and made him lose sensation and the power of controlling his limbs as well. He was swept rapidly along the torrent. His companion, the Englishman, however managed to get him out along the other side by catching his leg and dragging him out.
