• प्रार्थना (request) करने के लिए would और please दोनों का एक साथ प्रयोग करना चाहिए, जैसे – Would you please lend me one rupee? ( क्या आप मुझे एक रुपया उधार देंगे ) में अधिक शिष्टाचार युक्त नम्रता है । ऐसी नम्रता Will you please lend me one rupee? में नहीं है ।
• केवल Thanks कहना रूखापन दर्शाता है । इससे बेहतर प्रयोग है Thank you. Thanks के साथ for भी लगता है । ऐसा प्रयोग भी अच्छा है, जैसे – I thank you, sir, for your interest in my family. ( आप जो रुची मेरे परिवार मैं लेते है, उसके लिए मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ । ) परंतु केवल I thank you कदापि न कहिए । यह अपेक्षाकृत रुखसार प्रयोग है ।
• Congratulations और Felicitations के साथ on लगता है, for और at नहीं । Congratulations for/at your success गलत है । आपको कहना चाहिए Congratulations on your success.
• किसी भी बधाई के अवसर पर हम सिर्फ Congratulations या Congrats ही कहें, तो भी ठीक है ।
