Once a man went to the zoo and thought he would have some
fun by teasing one of the elephants. He held up a bun to an elephant, but as
soon as the elephant tried to reach it with his trunk, he pulled it away. The
elephant took this calmly at first, but got angry as the trick was repeated.
However he did not show his anger. Soon after this the elephant was allowed to
come out of the cage to take his usual walk on the grounds of the zoo. Suddenly
he saw the man who had teased him. He walked up to the man and took away his
straw hat. He held it in his trunk for some time and then offered it to its
owner. But as soon as the man tried to take it, the elephant quickly pulled it
back again. After doing this for some time, the elephant put it into his mouth,
swallowed it and walked away quietly. Thus the man was left bare-headed among
the crowd who laughed loudly at the way the elephant had so cleverly punished
him.
