Past Perfect Tense

Past Perfect Tense: The past perfect tense describes an action completed before a certain moment in the past.

Past perfect = use of had + V3 (past participle)

Third Person
He had eaten mango
They had eaten mango
She had eaten mango
It had eaten mango

Formula: 

Positive: Subject + had + V3 + object
Negative: Subject + had + not + V3 + object
Interrogative: Had + subject + V3 + object
Nag. Int.: Had + not + subject + V3 + object

Example: 
  1. I had eaten mango last night.
  2. They had gone to play.
Example:

मैंने पिछले साल मेरा काम समाप्त कर लिया था ।
Positive: I had finished my work last year.
Negative: I hadn’t finished my work last year.
Interrogative: Had I finished my work last year?
Neg. Int.: Hadn’t I finished my work last year?

यह पिछले महीने भारी बारिश हो चूकी थी।
Positive: It had rained heavily last month.
Negative: It hadn’t rained heavily last month.
Interrogative: Had it rained heavily last month?
Neg. Int.: Hadn’t it rained heavily last month?

हमारे सिनेमा तक पहुँच से पहले फिल्म शुरू हो चूकी थी।
Positive: The film had started before we reached cinema.
Negative: The film hadn’t started before we reached cinema.
Interrogative: Had the film started before we reached cinema?
Neg. Int.: Hadn’t the film started before we reached cinema?
