Use of how in interrogative sentences

Use of How: 

HOW is used to describe the manner that something is done. (= I want to know the way)

Example:

Question: How does he go to school?

प्रश्न: वह विद्यालय कैसे जाता हैं?

Answer: He goes to school by bus.

उत्तर: स्कूल बस से ।

Question: How is your father?

प्रश्न: आपके पिताजी कैसे हैं?

Answer: He’s not feeling well.

उत्तर: वे स्वस्थ नहीं हैं ।

Question: How did you go to Shimla?

प्रश्न: तुम शिमला कैसे गये?

Answer: I went to Shimla by train.

उत्तर: मैं शिमला रेलगाड़ी से गया ।

Question: How did you return?

प्रश्न: तुम कैसे लोटें?

Answer: I returned by bus.

उत्तर: मैं बस से लौटा ।

Question: How was your health in Shimla?

प्रश्न: शिमला में आपका स्वास्थ्य कैसा था?

Answer: I was perfectly all right there.

उत्तर: मैं वहाँ बिलकुल ठीक था ।

Question: How was the weather there?

प्रश्न: वहाँ मौसम कैसा था?

Answer: It was quite cold.

उत्तर: काफी ठंडा था ।

Question: How old is your son?

प्रश्न: आपके पुत्र की कितनी आयु हैं?

Answer: He is twelve.

उत्तर: वह बारहवें वर्ष का हैं ।

Question: How are you feeling now?

प्रश्न: अब तुम कैसा महसूस कर रहे हो?

Answer: Much better.

उत्तर: पहले से बहुत अच्छा ।

• A वाले वाक्य प्रश्नसूचक हैं, B वाले सीधे हैं । प्रश्नवाचक वाक्यों को सामान्य वाक्य में वदलने के लिए ( 1 ) सहक्रियाएं  do, did  आदि हट जाती हैं और इन सामान्य क्रियाओं का प्रयोग होता हैं, जैसे – What do you say  का  you say  और  What did you say का  What you said आदि ( 2 ) प्रश्नसूचक वाक्यों में सहायक क्रिया  is, was, had आदि हो तो वह क्रिया  object के बाद चली जाती हैं । इसी प्रकार साधारण वाक्यों के प्रश्नसूचक वाक्य इस प्रकार बनेंगे ।

2. Tell me whom you want.
3. Tell me whose book that was.
4. I do not know how old you are.
5. Tell me how she knew.
6. You did not say whom you had promised.

(B)

1. Who is he?
2. Whom do you want?
3. Whose book was that?
4. How old are you?
